Privacy Policy

The Human Version

We built OSS Notify to help developers, not exploit them. We only ask for read-only access to your public GitHub profile. We never sell your personal data. When you delete your account, we actually delete your data. No games.

1. Information We Collect

a) From GitHub

We use GitHub OAuth with read-only scopes (read:user, user:email). We collect your username, display name, email, and avatar URL.

b) Provided by You

We store your selected programming languages, watched repositories, and notification frequencies. Any integration credentials, such as webhook URLs (Slack, Discord) or IDs (Telegram), are treated as private, sensitive information.

c) Automatically Collected

Usage data such as page views and feature interaction is collected via Vercel Analytics and optionally Google Analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly to:

  • Match GitHub issues to your profile interests.
  • Deliver notifications to your configured channels.
  • Manage your subscription via Polar.
  • Improve the platform’s matching algorithm and UI/UX.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is hosted in a PostgreSQL database via Supabase.

  • Encryption: Sensitive data, including GitHub OAuth tokens and webhook URLs, is encrypted at rest.
  • Isolation: We utilize Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure that your data is only accessible to you.
  • Transit: All connections are encrypted via HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following sub-processors to run the service:

  • Supabase: DB & Auth
  • Resend: Email Delivery
  • Polar: Payments
  • Vercel: Hosting
  • Upstash: Background Jobs
  • GitHub: Data Source

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your information as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal identifiers, OAuth tokens, and configurations are permanently removed from our production databases within 72 hours. Inactive logs are purged every 30-90 days.

9. Changes to This Policy

While OSS Notify is in Beta, we may introduce new notification channels or analytics tools frequently. Significant changes will be announced via our newsletter or dashboard. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
